The Queen's Green Canopy

Burton-in-Kendal Parish Council presented (on 30th March) the pupils of Burton Morewood Primary School a fruit tree to plant and grow to mark the Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II.

The Queen’s Green Canopy is a tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee this year. This will create a network of individual trees, avenues, copses and whole woodlands in honour of The Queen’s service and the legacy she has built. Every tree planted brings benefits for people, wildlife and climate, now and for the future.

Tree planting is an incredible way for youngsters to connect with nature while helping the planet. It links to many areas of the curriculum and it’s fun.

We hope the children enjoy watching their trees grow and enjoy the fruit.
